ah great job, nice to see some new stuff from you Thomas.
looking hard for something to crit, the plastic/rubber bumpers, look at bit off to me.. theres a bit of a noise, on them I think they should be perfectly smooth..
also theres a bit of glow I think that is just above the side mirrors, which looks a bit odd ...
apart from theses very small things, great stuff
oh yea, did you render with vray? or maybe your using the new final render [i remember some of your older renders when you were testing it]

You did a good job on the window refelctions. I always see people with good car models but bad reflections. Yours are great. Good Job.
Better? Man, this is nearly 100% perfect. Great job on the modelling and the rendering. Neraly photo like. Only thing that cried rendered to me was the smooth edge of the highlights in the front. Fix that and I'll buy one. :p
You wrote on your side, that you based the models on cad data - did you rebuild them completely or use some cad meshes?

Thanks guys :)

I got the car as IGES from the client. So I did not model the car myself, so please don't give me credit for that.

hey, long time no speak..
the car shader is great, love the windows.
you could just use a better reflection environment to compliment it.
plus.. your headlights are usually quite nice, i cant say that on this one ;)
i;m on #maya if u ever need..

Always been a big fan of your stuff Thomas, and a long time user of your site. Your Audi and bug tut's were one of the best learning experiences I had when using Rhino. Thanks for everything!
This work is great! The only comments I agree with per se' is the noise shader on the bumper and the reflection line, but it's a very minor nitpick. Great work!

Wow, the modelling is really spot on! The surface of the car looks fine, but its always hard to say unless its in an environment. Windows, wheels, headlights look fine. The only questionable part is the blue surface.

Thanks :)
Gal: What do you think is wrong with the headlight?
Synergy: The noise comes from the glossy reflections, I should have used a bit higher settings I guess.
Acorn: Yes it's HDRi, it's the Uffizi map I used.
Dimitrios: The model should be spot on, as mentioned I used the CAD files :)

I think it looks great, like everytime. Only think that seems "not that good" is reflection/shading of front bumper a hood.
Otherwise it looks great. Windows are perfect. And silver metal on wheels is really great, .. it looks real.

Just happened to see all the images on your site an hour ago (was looking for some blueprints). Yet again: mind blowing images. Nice soft reflections!

I would love to see some closeups of the wireframe and maybe some explanations of the tough bits for those of us who are trying to improve (or even get some) skills in technical modelling. Thanks for all the blueprints too!
nice job man i liked it ....
my opinion maybe some more reflection map on the paint but.... thats alll nice work...
well done.:applause:

just awesome.
blurring on the car paint material looks a bit strange, but the rear lights are damn good

This is a really great job, the thing that would let me know its a model at a quick look is the lack of breaking mechanisms, since the car is using wheels instead of hubcaps you should be able to see them. Other than that and the couple of crits the others have thrown up It looks awesome.

Bravo Thomas really great renders. You did fine job on paint and surfaces. I like blue and yellow versions but white seems odd to me - look like mix from white and silver ;).
BTW what's the polycount of CAD data model ? Did you "optimize" it (remove unvisible stuff)? I ask 'coz recently i also got one model in pure CAD data tranformed form NURBS to polyes and i had 9,4 milion of polygons - man that's pretty ichy to handle :) :).

It's quite some time ago I made it, but as far as I remember the polycount was 1,4mil faces.

Hi Thomas,
Good work...
the only error I can see is the aliasing in the separation lines of the chasis.
If VRay try "Simple Two-Level 1,8"

Hey Thomas,
Love the car, I just think that the glossiness on the bonnet needs to be addressed alittle, other than that, great image! What renderer are you now using, I remeber something about you being on the testing team for final render?
Cheers

Actarus6: I get that question a lot. But I switched to vray when I was starting on the Peugeot 307 project because I needed some fast and clean skylight. I won't go into detail comparing the two renders since I still got a foot in both camps, and I don't want to step on anyones toes.
Nosalis, I havn't forgot it completely, but vray is what I use for production work now.

Hey Thomas (i'm from Denmark too, yeah :) Great rendering once again... I admire your work, specially the beetle. When i started using max my goal was to be able to create something as good as your audiTT or F1. From that time i always visited your website when i got stocked, and trying to figure out how you get them that nice. I believe i tried modelling an audi TT at least 5 times.
today, 6 month later, i can do it!
