2 x 1024 Color Maps, No normal or specular yet.

Just a portfolio piece, sort of a stylization of the greek myth. It's almost steampunk but I decided to take it in a slightly different direction. The textures are in a very primitive state, they need a lot of work.

Looking for critique/help with:

Edgeflow/optimization. Also, I took this into zbrush to sculpt for a normal map but I honestly was having trouble adding details to it, so any suggestions for details would be great. Texturing is definitely my weak spot, so any tips or tricks for achieving better textures is greatly appreciated.

kinda cool model, but as you said you really need to work on the textures. The amount of details you have in those two 1024 sheets are way to low. You need to work with harder edges in contrast to the smooth ones. Try working with a hard edge brush and do the gradient with that. Think about the lighting aswell to create form. I usually do an easy AO render to texture do get a quick base for the form. add seams to the clothing. sharp lines at the creases and seams.

Work with the textures with full ambient on. If it reads well in that state you know the textures work. A sharpenfilter and some contrast when you are done often lifts the texture

Good luck
