This is what we've been waiting for! Thank you. Is it possible to get a MR for Maya 4.5 version? It seems to crash MR when I use it in 4.5.

Hey,

Keep in mind that this is a beta product. You will have to ask Mark Davies (lightEngine3d@hotmail.com), he is the guy who created it. I don't believe it will work for MR 1.5.1 (Maya 4.5). I actually did get it to work with MR 3.2 for Maya 5.0. Works rather well. If you want to use Maya 4.5 then you probably need to use Maya's Renderer instead of Mental Ray.

Wow.. really impressive stills in the gallery. A lot nicer than the SSS hacks I have to use in XSI.

I took a quick glance at it last night with the hope of DL-ing it today. am I going blind or did he take it down? I hope not, I wanted to PLAY!

Whoa!! That looks absolutely awesome!

Rhonedog: The download worked for me! (direct page: http://www.lightengine3d.com/downloads/plugins/subScatter/ss_download.html)

hmm, I can't seem to get it to work in 4.5.... I can't find the "Scatter Lights" field in the Attribute Editor to configure it, and it just renders black

(I've never used any of his plugins before, do I need to have rayDiffuse or something installed for this to work?)

Woah...
Very cool.

Array: the thing that kept us from doing it in MR is that just a few seem to know how to do it right. Lightengine3d seems to be one of these guys and he just shared it!
:applause:

Could you explain in steps how the setup should be done with mental ray. Im only getting a black hole when rendering. I don’t think my connections are correct.

hey all
i've been having difficulty getting some of the mlls to recognize in my plug-in path. for instance maya (4.5) will create a rayDiffuse node, but not a raymarcher or diffuse light. the plug-ins are in the proper places, am i having problems with my scripts/prefs?
been messing with this for a couple weeks now and usually just give up, but it looks so cool!

How is this thing supposed to work (MR shaders)? I only get errors when I try it.

Has anyone even gotten this thing working?

I have the same doubts about it..., do I have my mesh closed?, I mean..., I tend to make my heads with holes, in the eyes, the mouth and things like that, will SSS work well with an opened surface?

Does anyone have some info on how to use it with mental ray.

doesn't seem to be much of a solution at all hehe... i guess i've got to pay for it to get nodes that work properly. perhaps im just a crackhead, but :thumbsdow
