View Full Version : querying skin weights...
Mattrne 07-30-2003, 02:48 PM does anyone know how I can query the skinweight of vertexA on object X and then apply that skinweight to vertexB on objectY?
hope that makes sense!

With the `skinPercent` command you can query values and assign them to other vertices. The trick is to find the name of the skinCluster node that is deforming your mesh (because you need it for your skinPercent command), I don`t remember how I got it but of course there is a way, I just don`t have the script @ hand right now. Another thing was that I think one has to turn off weight normalizing off, then assign the values, and then turn weight normalizing on again (with the skinPercent command).
I hope this gets you in the right direction
