View Full Version : scale dimensions after building a rig
Hi, I am looking for free rig tool for max 2008 that can after building and creating the rig, still have the option to scale the rig and also it's parts (legs, hands)..
I am not sure if cat or skeleton rig fit to this matter..

Well, it is better to understand what is going on... and I doubt the script exists.
So lets say your rig consisted of bind joints and a mesh. If you grouped these two together and tried scaling them, the result would be your mesh scaling at twice the speed of your joints. This is because the joints are deforming the mesh, so when they are scaled, the mesh scales too... so by also scaling the mesh group, you are scaling the meshes twice. In this case, you would want two separate groups, a scaled group and an unscaled group.
This type of thing happens with various things you will want to use in rigs... spline ik, rivet constraints, etc... most commonly with things that are bound to a skin cluster. These things just need to reside under a group that doesn't scale.
