View Full Version : Cebas and Cinema4D
sulian 07-30-2003, 12:11 PM I know that Cebas has made PyroCluster, ThinkingParticles, Matterwaves (and more) in collaboration with Maxon so, why Cebas do not make another plugins like FinalRender, GhostPainter or FinalToon for Cinema4D ??

If I know correctly, final render's code runs in C4D r7 and above, I think the similar sampling mode preview testifies about it.

Yup that's true, Finalrender radiosity is cinema 4d's radiosity engine. So basicly.....I think they are neighbours or something and drink coffee at each others places :p
cebas also made bodypaint, i think so maxon opted to go with bodypaint integration for more stability i think. i've used ghost painter with max and it wasn't has superfluos as bodypaint. also i think we will eventually get support for final toon. there is already a core version of it in advanced renderer. patience is a virtue i hope.:surprised

cebas had nothing to do with bodypaint.

Yes, bodypaint is totally a Maxon app, but resembles to ghost painter in goal, but not the way they achieve it

Maxon licenced a few chunks from cebas for the render engine, ie. radiosity and caustics; Maxon also includes a few plugins such as Thinking Particles. There is no point in reinventing the wheel when when a decent wheel already exists.

Working with BP1 could give you the impression that it was designed by Cebas (though it wasn't), but when you work with BP2 there's no mistaking that it's a Maxon design. :)

Ghost Painter and BodyPaint are two VERY different products. If you're looking for a paint app for Max, you still should consider BodyPaint - it outruns Ghost Painter and Z-brush (when it comes to painting textures in 3D). Maxon has currently the best app in the market for 3D painting.
B.T.W.: I'm not sure if you've seen it, but there's an interesting press release on Maxon's website:

Danb what are you talking about with final toon, there is nothing in C4D related to final toon if your refering to the cel render in C4D its been there before final toon was even a glimmer in anyones eyes, its been there since C4D came to north america in version 5. Someone needs to research thigns a little more vefore postin I think.
kaiskai, innocent mistake there. no need to get your panties in a bunch. :thumbsdow i was just basically thinking that since cebas helped with cinema's renderer maybe cinema would get more cel renderer features like the ones in final toon. make more sense?

asking if they would is one thing, my point was that you said they WERE, thats all.

hey kai...whilst youre on this thread....whats up with getting npr in c4d....are you working with someone on something like this for c4d? any chance you can tell us a little more...or do we have to wait for something like final toon to get converted for c4d use?

Well I met a german student at siggraph who is developing a simple line renderer, basically like an extension of the C4D one but with the ability for some contour.
Other then that I don't know anything really, don't ever count on final toon being ported, thats one of those things cebas seems more protective of.
