Been reading the XSi animation tutorials and it goes on a lot about using marked parameters, and locking them etc...not too sure I understand the significance....anyone?

a parameter is marked, if it's highlighted with yellow

( if you hit 'v' and you see the pivot, then translate X, Y, Z are marked)

any time you hit 'k', all the marked parameters of the selected objects will be keyed

if you want to remove animation of scaling but keep that on rotation, mark scaling, and select remove animation from the menu right bottom . ... etc

locking them (activating the 'keyhole' icon - bottom right at the marking bar) you can't add parameters to your selection

if you lock the rotation params, you can't key scaling, trans, etc...

hope this helps

also when you are scripting you can key a bunch of parameters by calling up the parameter set.

The significance would be to be able to select the parameters which you often animate instead of going to the MCP and reselecting them manually.

As Marci mentioned you can go to the marked parameter menu (the up arrow on the lower right hand side) select the parameters that you want to mark and hit CTRL+SHIFT+M which will create a marking set. You can activate the marking set by hitting CTRL+M.
