I'm a student, working with 3D/video post production (Maya/Shake) and I'm trying to break into films rather than the game industry. Any tips on which graphics card I should get?

My budget is somewhere around $300. What about the Quadro FX - Are the cheap models any good or is it better to go Geforce?
What about ATI?

for the sub 300.00 range.. i really wouldnt bother with the quadro's .. they are essentially souped up mx cards.

the best cards that i have seen as of yet in the budget/cheap 3d world are the wildcat vp's. newegg carries the 560 for about 230 if i remember correctly.

for a bit more, and a bit better performance, i guess you could break the 300 barrier and get a 750xgl for 320-350 +s/h

i think it would be worth the investment to get the 750xgl

Let's sing a song shall we?

"Search, Search, Search
Do a Search for 'Graphic Cards'
Search, Search Search
Do a Search for 'Video Cards'
Search, Search, Search
Everybody's searching now..."

Singing can be fun and educational.
