View Full Version : CAT RIG 3dsmax Hub probleme
Neon67 07-20-2009, 03:00 PM Hi all
I'm trying to have my ribcage independant of the pelvis mouvement , so i look to the wiki :
http://cat.wiki.softimage.com/index.php/Hub_Hierarchy_Controls
So it works for lateral mouvement , but i can't move my pelvis on the vertical axis , anyone have an idea to how resolve it ?
thanks

I've not encountered that problem before. My pelvis nodes can move on all three axes. Without more information, it is hard to diagnose why your rig isn't behaving correctly.

Well i work with 3dsmax 2009
Starting from scratch , i create a game character , select the ribcage , check pin up , add an abs layer , animate the pelvis which doesn't go down
So did i miss a step ?

When you pin the ribcage, you are disallowing the pelvis from moving significantly away from it. You won't be able to animate the pelvis downward if the ribcage is pinned, because the ribcage is preventing the pelvis from going any lower. You should be able to move the pelvis about though, and even move it somewhat closer to the ribcage along the z axis, though this will be limited by the amount of rotation that can occur in the spine links.
I tested this with the gamechar rig that ships with CAT, and those were the results that I got.

is there a way to conserve the Z axis normally , and have in same time the x, y axis detach from ribcage?

Making the spine stretchy might allow that. That's just a guess off of the top of my head; I haven't personally tried to do that.
In the end, if you have very specific rig requirements, you may need to create a custom rig. Off-the-shelf rigs are only going to address so many workflows.

stretch won't make the ribcage fallow the pelvis on the Z axis unfortunatly , but thanks for the help man
