I decided to start a thread charting the progress on a friend and I's XNA game for two purposes.

1. To get advice since this is fairly new to me.
2. To basicly have a well documented toadmap through this project.

Update: Formatting of post looked alright at home, not so good at my friends browser, so going to fix it.

So this was the first character I did for the project.

I'm needing some help on the animation aspect of XNA. Basically Maya is my weapon of choice but I have basically NO experience with animation and not even the foggiest on how to create animations for characters for use in XNA. So if'n you guys have any book recommendations for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

looks interesting. I think the handpainted textures look really cool.

I thought I would give a tiny update of work done so far before I can't progress anymore over the next few days and I don't want this topic to die while I'm gone. I was going to start with a single portion of the first level. Since I normally just model buildings for a flight simulator, this is actually a huge change for me.

Here's the concept piece.

One of the props for it.

I`ve heard that you need some special version of Xbox 360 to run you own maps. Is it so or any version of Xbox 360 will be good ?

Maps, no clue on. But as to games, not really. You can download XNA for your PC and easily get something up and running. BUT to get the game running on your Xbox 360, you have to join the XNA Creators Club which is $50 for four months or $100 for a year. I haven't paid that yet since, as you can see, it's not a game yet. Just assets I'm building.
