Please edit and post software used:

Hi, this is the early stage of a female human and took around 4-6 hours modeling. It took me about the same time to research, since the finearts anatomy website is off for now.

Right now I want to focus on proportions and any anatomical mistakes on the body and head.

Btw, this is my second female human (first being Joan arc tut). I want to make it as realistic as possible than cartoons ppl I made, while still keeping it animatable as a main character.

FYI, here's another main character in my same short anim.

Sorry, forgot to mention sofware used: Max 4 with Meshtools and others.

I've worked on the head some more. Lips, inside of nose, mild eye brow ridge, and the overal jaw line to make it look more like a female. But I don't have much sense to the shape.

Here, the bottom pic:

(I know the rule: no homepage promotion, but this is the only way I could think of to get around the problem. It's in DEEP construction. so enjoy!)

Here's the ear. (bottom)

Is there away to prevent the polys from exposing themselves w/o taking more render time?

it looks like you took a front and side picture, and forgot about 3/4 view, not to mention that your front and side view arent rotoscoped properly. your ear needs work, the nose is fine.the back of the head is screwed..fix that and you might have a good first pass...

Thanks iLLo. I really appreciate the comments.
I've moved ear sections around for better proportion. I'm still not sure how to fix the bottom juncture of the ear. How's the sharpness/bluntness of the ear contours?

The back of the head did look strange. I didn't notice that. Hope it's better now...

This is an anatomy practice, where the head is finalizing, but the body is still in boxes to change the proportions. So is the 3/4 view referring to the head or which body part?

Here's the ear (side and back):

I just made the gum and teeth for her. Not much texture yet.
I haven't welded the gum halves, but does anything else look off?

Just wondering, am I posting new stuff too quick? faster than ppl can read this and comment? I'm just hoping to learn realistic human modeling before my summer ends and 11th grade begins (like the other guy/girl on the forum).

Or if it doesn't show up, go to third thread down.

well aside from the ear having problems of its own(just not looking organic enough and your wires may need a looking at), but it is also way too small on the head. this is the only picture i can see so hopefully you will resolve that before posting more.

Thanks. I've scaled the ear so the length is from the eye to bottom of the nose. I think that the correct anatomy.

I agree. I'm having problems with the ear, since the geometery is messy. I've changed the thicknesses to make it more organic. Check if it's better here (bottom, rendered and wire):

If it's still not organic enough plz tell me where specifically.

Heres one of the pics:

ps. The site is on a free host, so I don't know what's the stablility issue there causing images to disappear sometimes.

Sorry to the forum, borrowing 20kb. The gum and teeth image decided not to show up. So it's here as attachment.

The base of the skull in the back extends down way too far, its as if the Jaw was wedged into the front of a ball, as opposed to hinged below the skull. Its nothing major, and I am sure its easily fixed, but I think its part of the things making your ear size and placement look so off. As said, its an easy thing to fix, and if it makes it look more right, all the better, then you can get into all those painful realism you said you wanted. ;)

Hey Akkalis. Sorry for the late reply...(got bored of women and started a man's head). I'm not too sure about the specifics you poiinted out about the end of the head at the back, but I just moved it up so it seems to align with an imaginary plane at the jaw bottom.

Here's the side view:

(You'll find the gum-teeth pic there in the album as well)

Also, I'm now working on the torso. This is a rough start for the placement and abdomen:

If you don't see it then here:

Does anyone know of a medical etc. site with references of the torso features? (clavicle, abdomen, naval, ribs etc.)

Hey thanks Akkalis. I don't know why, but all free services I used seem terrible. My above post was renewed with the pics now on photothru.com. Aside from the resolution limit and "PROOF" watermark, all else looks promising.

On the abdomen pic u can see a bulge of fat on the pelvis side, which should follow down a crease to the croutch. My mesh is almost verticals and horizontals, so this diagonal crease um...is there a better way than cutting right through?

Yes, have your geometry flow the same way. It should give you better deformations as well, try and have your polygons flow in the same directions as you'd imagine the muscles flowing.

Unfortunately the website I show you is down, also the breasts have no hang to them, and the ribs/stomach look off. Ribs show too much I think and meet too sharply.

Also, most free stuff sucks.
