View Full Version : 3ds max Upgrade Installation Question

Hi all,

I'm replacing my workstation in 2 weeks. I've been using the 3ds max educational version since version 4. Version 4 was first installed on this computer, then I upgraded to version 5 (I love that discreet offers such great prices on ed. version upgrades).

I've decided to stay with max for my last year of school and focus on max stuff as I feel that I still know so little about it. Also, it seems like discreet is strongly supporting the software and I'm not concerned with being unemployable as long as I understand lots about at least one major 3D package.

When I get my new computer and the educational 3ds max 6 upgrade, does anyone know if I will have to install 3ds max 4, then 3ds max 5, then 3ds max 6, then get the new auth code? I've saved my previous S/N's and auth codes, and it would be *much* easier if I could just install version 6 without installing 4 and 5 first, then ask for an updated auth code.

Looking forward this winter to spending lots of time running a shiny new 3ds on my still-probably-pretty-good PC. :)
