Hey guys! :wavey:

Have you guys seen the Queens of the Stone Age video where they are in a dessert and everything is solid colors, giving it a kinda "2d" feel. Do you guys know what plug-in in AE or Shake can simulate that?

about the plugin, i'm still looking around to see if there's
a plug in for that. if anyone had seen the toyato matrix
commercial, it is sorta that kinda idea. Anyone knows
any information about it, please forward some information

The Stone Age video was done by Shynola with 3d Max for some of the shots, and a very clever idea of using makeup on the band members. You can read how it was made here:

http://www.richardrosenman.com/ has a detailed article explaining how the Toyota Matrix commercial was made.

I hope this answers some of your questions. :)

The toyota matrix commercial was hand rotoscoped at a company called Red Rover. (www.redrover.net) A buddy of mine worked on a few shots of that piece while he was working there.

A similar feel can be achieved with just some basic edge detect, and YUV space flattening of the Y component. If you're running DF, there's a flow on their site that does just that.

hi guys
First, i want to thank some of the guys that took their
time and reply my thread. I have some ideas after looking
what others have done. Really really nice stuff. Me and my
other friend are planning to do a 3-5 min short film, planning
to film a short ninja story and use the live footage and somehow
connect it into a 2d world. As of now, the story is still in development, and still researching at some of the technical stuff.
I will update more later as time goes on.
I also have a website that is under construction, i hope you guys
can check it out some time.
i will post the address on my next thread. thank you for your
prompt. :D
