View Full Version : Path Constraint- Bone to geometry

Hey guys,
I'm looking to path constrain a bone to a twisted piece of geometry. Similiar to how a white blood cell travels through a vein. I'd like to avoid using lines if possible, because of the difficulty of matching up the line(vertex) to every bump in the road. The tube is already created/textured, with a separte piece for the floor. Is there a way to path constrain to a piece of geometry?
Many thanks

You could use an attatchment controller but you'll find the results of aniomating this less than satisfactory.
The easiest way to do it would be to place an "edit mesh" modifier on your tube and then select a line of edges right down your tube. Within the edit mash modifier panel there is an option called something like "create spline from edges" use this to make a spline that matches your tube. Select the spline and select all the vertices and change them to "smooth" if the result of this isn't very "smooth" then change problem verts to bezier and manualy adjust them (or change the whole spline to a nurbs curve). Now use this spline/nurbs curve as the path for your object.

cheers,
phil
