The scene is a vast missile silo seen from above, with a covert weapon being prepared for launch. While work continues frantically below, the secret agent rappels down into the tall, dark space, where he will attempt to sabatoge the missile before it launches.

It's a simple concept, focused on creating a dramatic environment and conveying a sense of danger and vertigo. I'll move on next to lighting studies as I build out the 3d model. Comments are welcome, thanks!

Here are some of the thumbnail studies in developing the image.

Title needs work, among other things.

Fantastic lighting and perspective. Gives a real sense of scale. Can almost see the finished piece just from this.

hello

I really like the concept, a couple suggestions.

change the camera angle a little bit so we can see the top of the nose cone, that way its absolutely clear we're looking at a missile and not some big underground pipe.

I'd like to see the figure closer to the camera and silhouetted against that platform below, he's getting lost in the detail.

how about some signs, ie. danger!, hard hat area!, radiation, something like that to give the viewer clues that we're looking down. and maybe some steam, flashing lights, something that says the missile is about to launch.

good luck
Tj

The detail work is really coming along nicely, 'though it's a shame that the character is all but lost against the background. I'm not sure whether that was what TJaeger was talking about or not, but if you moved the figure camera-left and down a bit to silhouette him against that white mist, he'd really pop out... to the viewer (us), not to the enemies manning launching the rocket. Not much time left (don't I know it?!) so good luck!

getting closer... here it is with some fog and atmosphere. secret agent is going to have to be 2d at this point (i'm thinking a commando type a-la snake eyes), and still have to some more details on the missile. thanks to all for the encouragement and feedback, especially tjaeger for really constructive suggestions. decided to keep the missile slightly cropped, i liked it encroahing the frame at the top.

this will be a tight finish... good luck to everyone on the last push!

In a secret underground site, a large intercontinental ballistic missile is being constructed and prepared for launch by a rogue military operation. The missile is purported to be the worlds largest, and carrying the deadliest payload as well, capable of destruction on an unimaginable scale.

We observe the vast scene from above, a space so deep that the bottom is difficult to fathom. As work continues frenetically below, our secret agent descends down a rappelling wire along the dark recesses of the mechanical tower into the silo. He is a commando trained in espionage and covert infiltration as well as explosives and rigging, and he is tasked to sabotage the missile launch and destroy the facility. Gaining access through the mechanical air ducts and vents, he will methodically set up a network of bombs that when triggered will cause the concrete silo to implode and crumble, destroying the missile in the process.
