I've built this Public washroom and I'm trying to light it up, I've tried various lights, some with shadows some without, but I can't get the right WASHROOM feel. Anyone have any suggestions? Ambient light? Area lights? :/

DL the 'sky' plugin from highend (it fakes gi using raytrace to its good not crap like shadowmap gi) .

it also fakes hdri, so you may be able to render all yor walls and use the 6 images ( ie cube map) to light your scene

i think ur talking a bout someting like a coin laundry... not sure thought but if u are

the sky pluggin will Work great and for extra detail maybe u can make the color of the lights a tad very very bright greenish... since those type of bulbs burn semi-greenish on film.. it might give u some feel to it.. and make sure u have plenty of shadows over lapping... ive seen that on some coin laundries.... hope that helps a bit.. (oh and u might wanna try it w area lights)

well hope it helps out some

sincerely

THANKS GUYS :D

But I cant get this fargin sky thing to work! :(

1. Create a Sky node (color utilities).
2. Connect a 2D texture to the lightColor attr (or leave it as a flat color).
3. Connect Sky output to the incandescence of a lambert, phong, blinn ... or to the outColor attr of a surfaceShader.
4. Turn raytracing on in the renderGlobals.
5. Set maxShading to 1 (if possible) to let Sky control the sampling rate.

I follow the directions but it super super bright and it's not working :S

HELP!!!
