This last days I've been animating some sneaks, first with a model that had no arms and just hips. I did like 3 tests with it, and then moved on to the model you will see on the following video, that has arms and upper body and everything :P This is the second time I do the sneak with this character, the first time didn't come out as I wanted so I started all over again. Before doing this, I also watched Jason Ryan's Ramp Up that talked about Sneaks which really helped me A LOT, if anyone wants to download it here is the link:

I also read the part about sneaks on Animator's Survival Kit, that also helped me a lot.

Here is the blocking pass, I added a lot of breakdowns to make the polishing easier. Please give me any feedback and critiques to improve before polishing!!!

It's almost too hard watching just one cycle like this on youtube. Do a playblast where you have it looping a couple of times if you are going to use their service.

I have a very hard time with all the motion forwards and backwards of the main body. Try and keep the upper parts of his body more in place while moving the lower parts more.

Or maybe just have a lot more follow through in the spine?

When you post a longer video I'll try and give you a more detailed crit.

Here is an update. I hid the arms because I wanted to focus on the rest of the body, I will add them on the next update.

I also made it loop a couple of times since I uploaded it to youtube. The other website that let you watch it frame by frame isn't working anymore so Youtube is the only option :P If anyone knows another website to upload were I go frame by frame through the video please post it.

Please give me feedback on how to improve it!!

I have a huge problem with the amount you move the body back and forth. Especially the forward position.
If you would loosen up the spine from extreme forward to the extreme back then it would turn out nicer. Now there is no rotation at all in the spine, but if you would have an inbetween like a C that would help a lot.

When you sneak you stay mainly on your toes it's rare that you plant your whole foot. Try using the toes more.

About your file, why not upload a mov or something to one of the zillion free uploading sites.

Thanks a lot for your critique Mikael!! I made what you said on the spine and it looks really cool now :P I also tried to make it sneak on his toes, but after a lot of tests I decided to make it flat. I polished it also and I'm happy with the result :D

hi, i think the extreme front n back is still kind of too much. Go ahead n give it more C, like what MikaelPersson said.

He some how feels like a pendulum swing now. Usually, moving around sneakily, your body moves as little as it can, 'cos you dun want people to see you.

That looks a lot better, but Valerie is correct. Try toning down the back and forth motion a bit more.
Another thing to be careful with is your legs. When they are extended to their max, just before hitting ground . It creates a nasty pop, try and smooth that out a bit more.
