View Full Version : vector rendering ocean/water

Hi, I need to create cartoon water, and it is supposed to be created with the Vector render. If this don't work, I may try other techniques, but it would be better the first one.

As far as I know vector renders differences in geometry edges and materials, so I planned using a material with an ocean shader or water texture in the displacement channel. But the renderer doesn't deal with displacements.

Does anybody know how to connect a an animated displacement to a surface so that this surface is deformed and animated by the displacement map?

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!

You could make a sequence of displacement to poly converted models at every frame (modify>convert>displacement to polygons) and do a replacement animation with the sequence of models. However, if you need detailed displacements, your file size could grow immensly.
