A few questions: Some for you...some for me and my multiple personalities.

Have any of you ever used Lightscape to render scenes from Max?
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/section/0,,775058-123112,00.html

When I originally purchased Max prestudent days...yes..I purchased it
after hocking the love of my life...Nikon f3, among other things...
I got a bundle with Lightscape and Sven Surface Suite Pro
(which rocks..and is no longer available or supported...drats!)

2. Is the Brazil Renderer basically the same thing? Does it use the
Radiosity process thingy?

3. When you import a scene does this include lights and all?

4. Q: Why don't you go look it up yourself you lazy codger?
A: I'm a lazy codger who'd rather have someone else do the boring stuff.
.
5. Q: Why don't you already know this stuff if you've had it for over a year?
A: I have a kid....and all my time is spent trying to improve
my modeling techniques, while simultaneously avoiding any physical activity
"code for mowing th lawn" .

6. Why are you asking and answering you're own questions?
A: I'm a disturbed, lazy, old codger.

Thanks,

YES

There is a bridge (plug in) that allows max to read the lightscape data after a lighting solution has calculated.

My advice: use lightscape to test bake scenes, then recreate the lighting effects you observe with photoshop and standard max light types.

WHY:

Lightscape is a bitch to setup so that the materials look anything like what you started with in max (for ex). And you can stay away from color per vertex high poly geometry.

ALSO:

Looks like max 5 will support radiosity directly!
