Heres an article that discreet gave to 3d-palace of what the new features were going to be. Paint Studio was listed in here but on the discreet site it's not.

the screenshots look exactly the same as other max versions.
wasnt it supposed to have a new interface or something?

Extending its already-comprehensive set of Vertex Paint capabilities, 3ds max 6 software gives Game Artists and Level Editors an easy to use solution for painting and editing color and custom attribute information onto any of the 99 channels of information available per vertex using a host of tools.

Vertex Painting and an intergrated 3d paint tool is apples and oranges.
It looks like 3dtotal took the reference out of their deal. Unless I am missing something (I remember reading it when it first came up)

i read about a new interface somewhere too, but i think what they meant is the new schematics view among other changes.. i don't think the basic interface itself needs any major overhaul

Regarding Deep Paint integration.
I talked with Discreet about this, if you read my site posting now you will notice that it has been removed. The UK press release we got direct included the Deep Paint system, however the following morning following licencing re-negotiations Deep Paint is off the menu again for the time being. My official contact at Discreet didnt explain the reasoning, however my guess is that the deep paint licence would adversely affect the Max pricing structure perhaps. Either way thought the US standard one page infopack release now does not mention the release of this as an addition to the software.
In turn I have now deleted the parts of my 4 page release that pertained to that, as well as removing the specific marketing data that was of no benefit to the reader.
Im going to ask for some preview video footage of max running with its new features that I will host, however I suspect that Discreet are going to be busy for the next week or two. None the less, I shall be starting Max 6 tutorials production in September.

you can find the thread HERE (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57917).
I have edited your thread title now so people searching for
answers in certain fields [modeling, lighting, texturing] can find
those threads more easily.

You forgot to edit a small portion of your release info on your forum in the Video/Film/Cinematics header

whats the isoline display?
Aearon
07-30-2003, 09:56 PM
isoline display only shows the smoothed control cage when the model is subdivided, not all the edges that result from subdivision (hope that is understandable) ;)
