View Full Version : Blendshapes before or after skinning??
mcoppolaro 07-14-2009, 01:03 PM Hi I have just created and rigged a character, I tried doing blendshapes for the eyes but when I use them the character changed his entire pose into the one of the blendshape.. the eyes worked though!
In Maya do we create the blends before or after rigging and skinning?? Or does anyone know how to make blends with the rig? ..only need them for the head.
Cheers
Matt

blendshapes first so they wont affect the deformation made by the skin

it really doesnt matter which order you create them in.. just make sure that in ure input order the skinCluster is on top of the blendshapes.... if you don't know how to do so.. right-click on the geo-- go to inputs-- all inputs... then middle mouse drag the inputs so the skin cluster is on top of ure deformers... just be warned that if your creating blendshapes after u skin, make sure that the geo is in the same state as it was before u added a skinCluster, i normally go to the skinCluster input and turn the envelope to 0 just to make sure..
