Mac users beware - the download for the demo for Mac is linked to the PC version. Took a nice 25Mb download to discover that.

To rectify this, replace the '___.zip' at the end with '___.sit'

Thanks! I did a BP2 tutorial on the paint job that's supposed to be published in a German magazine.

Looks great! I am real excited about the new version and think its awsome Sony Imageworks is using it. My jaw dropped when I was watching the videos. Does anyone think the demo of 2.0 would conflict with the full 1.0 version? I would like to give it a try.

Hi,
just make sure you install it in a different directory and it works fine
Cheers

Heh, well I wrote it in English of course. I'll check and see if there's any way the English version can be made available.

A couple of little things you guys may not have noticed--you can reverse camera rotation, you can use up to 5 mouse buttons as modifiers for hotkeys, and you can modify menus!

Does this mean there is nothing new with C4D?

Excellent

Love the UV tools/gradient and save channels features.

Some questions.

IS bp2 backwards compatible with 7 or just 8,ie if I open a BP 2 file in 7 will it open.

Does BP 2 npw with channel saving allow me to mix channels together, lke say mx more of the red channel into thhe image,or is it just alpha channels?

Is there any color balancing abilitiy,ie highlights, mid, shadows and the ability to shift their hues. Also hue and saturation?,like PS..

Sometimes the effects plugins {native PS} are also called filters are they included?.

am I right when I take it 7 filters will not work in BP2 just 5.5 ones?

Do we now have a channels palette?

Ok last one - Will BP 2 require a graphics card update like 7 to 8 did,or will older cards work as well in BP2.

Thanks.

Well I am really impressed, well done Maxon

I noticed "variations" is a native PS filter, try that one guys :D

Well, it uses R8 as it's core, so you won't be able to open a file in XL7 any more than you could a regular R8 file.

> Does BP 2 npw with channel saving allow me to mix channels together, lke
> say mx more of the red channel into thhe image,or is it just alpha

BP2 doesn't have channel in the sense that PS does. It's channels are more or less the same as Cinema channels, e.g., color, transparency, bump, etc. It does have layer masks, but that's a different thing.

> Is there any color balancing abilitiy,ie highlights, mid, shadows and the
> ability to shift their hues. Also hue and saturation?,like PS..

BP2 doesn't have a hue or color filter. I'll have to check and see if any of the PS filters work for that. It does have levels, brightness, contrast, and gamma adjustments.

> Sometimes the effects plugins {native PS} are also called filters are
> they included?.

It doesn't include any PS plugins. It's just a question of whether plugins you already have on your system will work or not.

> am I right when I take it 7 filters will not work in BP2 just 5.5 ones?

PS7 filters are supported, but again most of them don't work in BP2. Apparently this is because Adobe's SDK doesn't provide for it, so there's nothing Maxon could do.

> Do we now have a channels palette?

No, but the layers palette has been merged with the material manager and it is a *much* better arrangement. There are several different MM layouts you can choose to maximize efficiency. The old Layout Manager is still there, but it's really only for backward compatibility.

> Ok last one - Will BP 2 require a graphics card update like 7 to 8

I'm not sure.

> Thanks.

> Well I am really impressed, well done Maxon

Yeah, I'm blown away by how good those guys are.

Thanks Adam.

The filters are plugins really because they all reside in the plugins folder in PS.Sometimes the effects plugins {also in the PS folder} are also referred to as filters so I was wondering if those worked as well thats all.

The color ones hue and sat and color balance are not filters as they are in the Image adjust menu so they wont be supported.

Thanks

Stu.

Of course you can! But you can't do it in the compact material editor, so choose one of the expanded versions (Materials->Edit->Expanded).

This is really wacko, I installed BP2 Demo which is absolutely eyepoppingly fabulous, and suddenly half my Cinema 4d breaks down, no more thinking particles and no more shaders  It could be my system or FUBAR Windows, anyone else experienced this? (so I know for sure it is my pc) I run 8.1 studiobundle.

p.s. Thanks Srek for being so active on this forum! :)

Hi,
there shouldn't be any sideeffects as long as you install the BodyPaint Demo in a different directory then your CINEMA Installation. Mixing those two up will result in a basicaly unusable installation.
Hope this helps

As both will open c4d files, the most recently used program will be used. I have this problem all the time when I have to teach XL7, everything suddenly decides that XL7 would be the best program to use.

Okay thanks a lot Srek, it was installed in my modules directory in my cinema 4d installation so that must have been my mistake then :scream: .

It works perfect now :)
