Hi guys,

I´ve talked to a lot of guys that use Avid Digital Studio and they told me this app is so good or better than Flame.....

Is that true? I think that DS is indicated for broadcast works, is fast, with a lot of features and good price, but is compared to Discreet highends?

Thanx

I was just at the AVID DNA Toronto road show where I sat in on a DS NITRIS demo. I was super-impressed. So fast, great interface, great animation tools, great compositing tools, all the editing functionality of a media composer, fast fast fast. Great 3D functionality too (realtime displacement mapping). And coming from an XSI background ,the workflow and interface couldn't be better.

I much prefer it over the workflow and GUI of a Flame. And with the Nitris hardware it's insanely quick. Benchmarks indicate it's got the processing power of 40 P4s.

I'd say it's comparable. But perhaps someone with more experience could shed a bit more light onto the subject.

Hi there,

Isn't Avid DS an editor? Why would it be compared to an FX and composition system like Flame? Maybe Fire or Smoke. Or does DS do more than just finishing?

Hi Jamo,

Avid DS HD does it all...and more ;)

But, what´s the price of AVID DS?

and another question: why AVID DS is not so known as Flame or Inferno?

Thanx

I think Avid DS is just as well known, just not as ubiquitous.

A top of the line DS Nitris suite (lots included) is $140k USD.
