View Full Version : Import to Maya on OSX
Hi,
I'm having some dificulties importing files from another apps to maya.
I tried importing an .OBJ from C4D but it didn't work.
Do you know any plugin (for mac) to import DXF files?
Also, is it possible to convert a Maya 4 file to Maya 3?
Thanks,
bry

Open your exported file in a text editor and check the first line. It may have the wrong file extension on it. You also may need to convert the file to unix. Open Terminal and type "tounix" and leave a space after the command. Drag your file into the Terminal window, this will automatically complete the path to the file. Press Enter. This will convert the .obj file to Unix format. You should now be able to import the file into Maya.

Hmm. I'm bringing obj files from LightWave to 3.5.1 using the process I described above. 3.5 would open the file without having to do any of this. Export as an obj and attach it to this thread if you'd like me to take a crack at it.
Hi,
Here's a test file. Rename the file to man.obj, please.
Thanks,
bry
