Hi,

I'm in the middle of creating a small creature for an animation that has a chameleon-like tongue that can extend fairly far and is also quite flexible. I was wondering if anyone would know of where I could find some information or maybe even a tutorial for setting something like that up?

This is a few seconds of the character in 2D I will be using just so you can get an idea of what it looks like and what I mean exactly.

To save starting another thread as well, there will be instances where this tube creature will need to swallow much larger objects by wrapping around the shape of them. My original thought was blend shapes but vertices animate directly to a point rather than animated around to the intended shape. I don't know if that makes any sense, but if it does would anyone have any clues how to do that?

If anyone could help out, you would be an awesome life-saver!

Cheers!

Tongue could be splineIK with stretching. And you can use some blendshapes to give the end of the tongue some shape to stick to surface. However, you will need a lot of geometry depending upon how long you are stretching.

Have you tried in between for your blendshapes?
