Hello CGSociety,

I have a little problem with exporting a displacement map in Mudbox (SP2). I've been using it the first time to displace something now...

I made a little knife and wanted to use some displacement on the handle just for fun. So I sculpted a bit in Mudbox and wanted to export for 3ds max. I exported in OpenEXR and this came out:

In the upper left edge there are some artifacts, in those white ehh... "things", there are some black blocks that shouldn't be there.

I tried increasing aswell as decreasing the search distance. Changing the samples didn't change anything... Exporting to another file format didn't help aswell.

Someone here who could help me with this problem?

You have overlapping uv's and no app can write the same data twice to one area of a map. (Hence the issues). Avoid overlaping islands and faces, and keep your islands about 4px apart and the issues should disappear.

Ahh, ok... Will try that! Thanks Wayne :)

EDIT: Worked fine :) Thanks a lot... Didn't see the UVs overlapping...
