So within one day, i'm back with another problem on the same project (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=5972592#post5972592)

As you can see I have 3 intersecting fluid containers each with different properties. In the render, you can clearly see each induvidual fluid. Note the purple fluid casting a shadow on the pink fluid, which it should not be doing, as that part of the fluid is actually inside the green fluid....if that makes sense.
I was under the impression that fluids inside intersecting containers would blend into one in the render, but it appears they do not. I've tried changing on and off the render stats on each container not recieve shadows/cast shadows, but that does nothing.
Have I made an elementary mistake, or is there a workaround here?
heh, it's great doing a professional job on an aspect of maya that i've never touched before.
