Hi all:
If this is in the wrong forum/thread, let me know and I'll get to work straightening it out.
I did a piece of art for giggles which was retro 1950's, then some friends said they wanted to use it for their science fiction club.
If you ever get into this situation, it's good practice for giving credit where it's due, something which I thought I'd got better at. A member who's a lawyer drew up a contract, and I didn't have to look at it before realizing I had to make some phone calls. Four elements needed to be okayed, the spacesuit is the last.
I had modified a model titled "Moonwalker" which was an Apollo astronaut spacesuit model that had what I considered stunning quality, adding goofy elements that made it more 1950's like huge metal air tanks.
I made another image with a somewhat different theme using what I'd hoped was a public domain image, where it cost $30 from an image bureau as long as it's single use like a banner, but a run of t-shirts is going to be $250 for starters, and they did mention t-shirts.
So, that's how a hobbyist image can cost one a bit of time and trouble.
I paid a friend to pore over my 3DWORLD disks looking for the model, but so far, nothing's shown up. Anyone who thinks they recall seeing a really classy "Moonwalker" astronaut suit, I'd be very grateful if you know the artist so I can maybe licenseit from them, can sign the paperwork, and move along.
Scott
PS: the image is in my CGPortfolio Gallery, and I promise this isn't a adept ruse to get it some more views, unless I'd have to sign something...
