I also excersise myself by drawing pictures from books, comics...

But in my opinion real life drawing is more intensive and learnful but more difficult since its not yet on a paper,
you will better understand how muscles are formed and get a better perspective vision.

But do both :)

Some say copying from past masters is a good exercise.. It's quite fun too. I really like Da Vinci.

Nothing beats life drawing. Drawing from an actual person is an experience you can't duplicate. However, pictures are really useful. Printed off the internet isn't so good. Try to get your hands on books. Whether anatomy books or old masters' books. High quality printing is a wonderful thing. Also, don't be afraid to make copies and dissect them. Draw lines, study angles and shading and shapes. You can make as many copies as you need. Or use tracing paper over. References are your best friend when you don't know how something works.
