View Full Version : Question On Painting
KONEE ROK 07-28-2003, 07:50 PM Anyone know how to paint on polymeshes?
I want to paint on a polymesh model i made, but as far as i know it is not possible to paint o anything but nerbs, can anyone tell me a way around this.
Because my polymesh is already animated, but i want to paint it with 3d paint.
Any advice or 'step by steps' would be appreciated.

There should be no problem painting on a poly surface using the 3D Paint Tool. I'm asuming your object already has a shader applied to it (ie not the default lambert 1).
1. Select the object
2. Switch over to the Rendering menu set
3. Go to Texturing > 3D Paint Tool (with option box to bring up the brush settings etc).
4. Choose the 'Attribute to Paint' (eg colour) in the 'File Textures' section.
5. Click the 'Assign/Edit Textures' button and choose a texture resolution. This creates a blank image file that you paint into as you paint on your object.
6. Start painting on your object!
That should work fine. Whenever you want to start painting another attribute, like bump for instance, you just need to select that and assign a new texture for it.
If you have any weird problems it's probably due to the layout of your UV's.

u can paint on polygons. press f5, select the polgon u want to paint, go to texturing (in the main tool bar), open the 3d paint tool options and click on assign texture.
now u should be able to paint on polys.
