hi there..

ok first off you`re being lazy !

but secondly this is never really a good idea as the poly flow never truely matches up.
Basically you need to have the same polys in your forearm model which by the looks of your
image you dont have. Yours looks really low poly and the hand looks mid poly.

seriously .. take the time to learn how to model the hand and arm together. Cutting short cuts now will only rear up and come back to haunt you later..

cheers

Other than trying to match up vertices between the two pieces of geometry and then welding them, an easy alternative is to delete the current arm, select the vertices at the end of the wrist. Hit 'e' and then T for move and extend an arm out from the hand, and shape the arm from there. keep hitting e to add more segments.

i disagree, this is a good method that saves time.
why on earth waste minutes when you don't have to?
Proton "the LW Pixar freelancer" also uses this trick.

however, of course, after having done this,
you will have to modify the polyflow to avoid trigons.

There's a difference between re-using assets and trying to fudge someone elses work to fit your own. If you regularly create characters you'll soon build a library of components which should have very similar poly flow, joining them would be easy. As Neil mentioned, the arm and hand have very different poly flows so would require some fairly crude welding and splitting to create a join...although, at this stage, it probably wouldn't matter.

i have to agree if deadlines are at stake is acceptable to do this of course, however
i think in this case its better to learn basics.

Its tough and boring in some cases but i honestly believe its the best way.
