hi again,

I'm trying to make a orb that shows an image inside it (like they tend to do), here's a picture of how it should work:

The red part is a sphere with a glass material on it and the blue part should be what is "inside" the orb (stars, some visions from the future, whatever :) ). so..what is the best way to make it look real ? I want the vision to be inside the sphere, but still not be affected by what the glass sphere reflects (I want it to be clear). I want the reflection to be visible only on the edges of the sphere.
any advice on how to begin ? what to use to get the effect ? Hope I've made myself clear :)
thanks,

While I'm not going to go into great detail as I don't have the time right now, let me offer some avenues for experimentation.

You'll want to use a "falloff" map for the reflection and refraction of the globe. You will also probably want to use it for the opacity/transparancy of the sphere. This way, the image on the inside will be crystal clear, and the outside edges of the globe will be reflective etc.

Give it a try.
