View Full Version : How do you make a foggy scene?
Doubleagent-Bob 07-07-2009, 07:53 AM Im trying to make a room that is a little foggy, enough so that you can see the light rays coming down. How do I do this?
Using Softimage 7.

I would not try to do this with XSI alone.
It would be much more plausible to use compositing of different passes to achieve the effect.
For one, you could do a Depth pass for a distance based fog.
Then I would have a masked pass of the source for the volume light. Or I suppose Volume lights would be satisfactory. Given I have not used XSI in a while so I am not sure how to accomplish this.
Atmospheric effects will trash render times if you are not careful. Its best to keep the elements separate.
