Hey all,

I have been experimenting with trying to create DOF in Vue xStream 7.4 and failing badly. Can someone assist me with a method to come up with dof in Vue or fake it in post. I have seen a few people say they use Z-Depth in Photoshop to do that.. errr ok I appreciate that but have no idea on how to do it.

Can anyone help me with this one. I am trying to get dof happening in the image below for the mountains in the background.

Cheers

Hi

you can fake DOF manually in photoshop using a gaussian blur and a gradient:

Use z-depth as a mask, then use the lens bur filter in photoshop.

There's also the very good photoshop plugin Depth of Field Pro by Richard Rosenman :)
it can do batch rendering, thus, making animations easier with DOF ;)

z-depth and lens blur is great. Allows for so much control over the blur using the settings of the filter in PS.. awesome tip.

I have an issue with the look of my water but I will post a sample in a new topic.

Cheers.. this was a big help.
