I have been extremely busy at work, grinding long shifts. I finally got some free time and decided to join my first CGTalk challenge. I'm a month behind so I have tons of catching up to do.
I normally love to story board, but this is a tight situation for me, so I decided to cook up a rough shot sequence with images I referenced from inspirational movies. I thought it would be fitting for my story. All of these images are just implications of what each shot may look like. To be honest, I'll be lucky if I get 10 in, but I'll see. Once I actually create my sequence of events, I will then compile everything into a trailer. Regarding reference, I am currently watching several James Bond movies, Ironman, Japanese Anime that consist of "Secret Agent" and "Espionage" elements. A few examples are "Appleseed 2", and "Vexille".

So here goes.

Agent Zero


This is a story of a man in the year 2078, who has joined a secret federation that fights crime and global terrorist conspiracies. Agent Zero, will stop at nothing to take down an Illegal organization "N.A.W." National Advanced Weaponry. Agent Zero must infiltrate the N.A.W's base, and gather information that list the targets of N.A.W's next attack. With this brave attempt to retain world order and maintain safety, the nation's future rests in the hands of Agent Zero.

Agent Zero:

Bio:

5 foot 10. 165 lbs.
Birth place unknown.

Special Attributes:

The National Government has enhanced his body with a cybernetic suit. His strength is vastly improved while in the suit, and he can withstand extreme temperatures. The suit has built-in thrusters below his calf's that allow him to make explosive jumps. Even though Agent Zero cannot fly, his suit consists of a hovering system embedded within his backpack, that enables him to absorb impact upon landing. It has been said that Agent Zero can unleash energy blasts from an unknown source.

Niiice! 'Agent Zero' is coming along well. I like the high paced action packed flow of the board too. Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback. The geo has alot of detail, but its quite light. I have to build his built-in hover system on his back and finish hiis lower body. Post some updates soon as I'm done.

great job so far. Good thinking in the take shots off DVD photoshop filter them and use them for story boards. I'm not being sarcastic, I really like that idea. I think I'll have students in my class do that.
Edit those boards together so we can get a sence of timeing and action. It's pretty hard to follow the story boards when they are all just frames.
Great model, that's badass!! What I hate about doing full cg characters by myself is that you model it, then you still have to rig, texture, and animate. I burn out somewhere along that path before I get to light and render. If you're going to bring on a teammate I'd try to get a rigger, then an animator so you can focus on the other parts. But that's just me.

@ Dave:

Bro, your absolutely correct. This will be quite challenging I think. Regarding sets, I'm thinking about incorporating some live action backgrounds fudged a bit, along with some light geo with projections. The fx stuff will be fun and should not be a problem. Rigging?......hmmmmm, I tried finding one but couldnt find anyone that wanted to rig him. Plus...if I do use a rigger I don't think I will qualify under the individual video requriments. Will I? I need to find that out. By the way... your spot on with the storyboard filtering. :/ Didn't have time to create a real storyboard. Actually I started modeling first. The boards are subject to change, they are quite rough. We'll see though.

Agent Zero is complete. Now I'm in the process of modeling my sets. Hope to be done, modeling, texturing, and rigging next week, so I can be animating by the end of the month. Once he's in action, I'll definitely post some updates.

I'm in the process of shading agent Zero. Plan on adding more layers to the metal. He works under intense conditions, so his suit needs more scratches, dirt, and other elements. I've yet to add SSS and displacement. Thinking about adding fur for eyebrows and mustache. Should be done refining by the weekend, so I can begin animation. :/

software used: Maya, Photoshop, 3dsk(skin reference).

I was looking at a color wheel today. I feel the blue metal is a bit de-saturated and washed out by the gray. Plan on bringing it up, and adding a red/orange color to some other parts to complement the blue. Post some updates after this weekend.

This looks promising. Your storyboards are very cinematic. Nice layering in his armor. It's so detailed. It must very difficult to rig though. That part always gets me :argh:.

I wonder, what program did you use?

insane modeling dude , insane. many would go for that details in bump, normal map or displacement map BUT u have put so much patience in modeling poly by poly . hats off to ur skill. i m please. good luck ...

Wonderful job man!!! Your modelling is really fine and clean, and nothing to say about textures and final impression of the character, 5 stars. I want to see him animated!!! Evething was said before from the rest of the guys in this project so give up the good work.
