View Full Version : Vray Distributed Rendering & Linux....
Shibalba 07-02-2009, 10:25 AM Hey everyone, im currently in the process of putting together a render farm for a small Arch-Vis business im starting. I am going to be running 3DSMax and Vray, but have run into a small hitch. Is it true that Vray cannot run on Linux, even just on the render nodes??? So each rendering pc needs to have windows installed??? My mate is a network admin, who is basically gna be putting this thing together, says theres gotta be a mistake, surely you are not required to have a farm of pc's running windows XP or vista to do your rendering? Is this true???

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition works alright for render nodes if you must have Windows to run the software. An alternative would be to run Linux on the farm and use a different renderer that runs in Windows and Linux. Cheers!
