That looks awesome!
I'm a little concerned that it might not be out in 2009 though. He repeatedly says "July the 15th of 'this year'" -not specifying any certain year.

eehm.. not to sound harsh.. but.. did you READ the www page or WATCH the videos ?
The short answer is Yes, its a standalone plugin for lightwave currently, and we are working on import/export to other apps.

MADness.......It is a standalone App but will it work with the coming "overhaul" of LW..i.e. "CORE"

This was released today, right?
The demonstrations on Youtube were jaw-dropping. I too am not a fan of rigging (I just don't understand it), but this is definitely worth every penny! I've always wanted to show in my demo reel that my models can be animated, so having something like this will make doing this a lot easier. Also, can you pose characters with this thing, or is it just motion-path based? Would I be able to click on actual joints and move them, or is it up to the pre-written code to determine the placement of joints?

this plugin already works with lightwave 7,5, 8.5 and 9.6
as for CORE>> waay too early as core is no way near ready for release, it's in alpha at the moment.
i hope that Jimmy Rigger bcomes the "go-Z" of rigging/motion capture!

As i understand it f rom the posts on newtek forums>
when the lw scene is opened you get a weighted bone rig to play with so you can pose/animate with ik or ikbooster as well as the imported mo caps.

There's no mention of the system spec on their website. Is there a MAC version?
cresshead

no mac version...just run it on bootcamp.
system spec> well you use this with lightwave so if you can run lightwave you cn run this too.
demo vids were done on a laptop pc btw to give you a base idea. not some uber tower pc.

Yes it runs very nicely on a dual core athalon 2.2 gig
system with 2 gigs of memory. Running WIndows 7 - althougthere may be some issues with W7 in some cases I'm trying to trouble shoot a few things.
I've yet to run it on my desktop, but it should fly - atleast on that character...

SO far I ma having fun with JR. I am using vista64 and when ever I go to the MIXED tab and drag(grounder, Inplacer, Destination, etc) the software crashes (error Exception Eassertionfailed....). Is this suppose to happen
WillCameron

No, heh. I once programed a small program to do nothing but crash but I think thats not the norm.
If you go over to the JimmyRigg forum Enki posted a DeBug version thats like 5 meg. you just drop it into the JimmyRigg folder with the main executable and load that one up instead, when it crashes it generates an error report that you can mail back to him.
Should help the issue.

Downloaded the Bug fix version and sent my first Bug report on today. However, there was no bug report generated when I by accident re-imported my model(already Jimmy rigged) and selected "animate in place" before assigning my character a motion. The software just freezes up.

Jimmy|RIG Lite Initial Release.
Hi Guys,
Its been a great last two weeks for us and the beta guys. We have gotten tremendous feedback on
Jimmy|RIG and have taken everyone's suggestions and opinions into account.
One issue seemed to be the Internet connection requirement. In this initial release you will
still be required to have an internet connection at startup. We are evaluating other options
and are not ruling out that that is going to change in the future, but we wanted to focus on the
actual applications first rather then changing our security mechanism. So for those of you, who
cannot or don't want to use the application because of that mechanism, don't purchase now,
but rather wait until an update resolves that issue for you. I can assure you that we are working
on it, but it is not our #1 priority.
For the betatesters that have been testing Jimmy|RIG for a while, Jimmy|RIG will expire in the next
few days and display the purchase link. The WWW Page will also be updated with a purchase link.
Once purchased, you will get a link to the release version and new account information for Jimmy|RIG Lite.
We are going to list the feature updates from the user suggestions on the Jimmy|RIG page at
http://software.origamidigital.com (http://software.origamidigital.com/) and on the Origami Digital Forum.
There is also going to be a finate list of what is still going to be implemented in the future, giving you
a good understanding of the eventual full featureset of the application.
If you are in anyway unsure about the purchase of Jimmy|RIG Lite, wait until those features are published
in the next few days and make your decision then.
Regards,
Oliver Hotz

One issue seemed to be the Internet connection requirement.
I am hopeful that this problem will be eliminated completed. If this condition is removed, I'll probably buy the Pro version very soon. No internet on my animation machine!

Me too!
My animation workstation is not internet connected and it never will be.
I look forward to purchasing JimmyRigger when this connection requirement is gone.
