I have to agree, it is, over all, awesome work. In the realm of getting that much closer to realistic shaders, it still needs a little push...
The eyes are the most distracting part, mainly because they look very, very dry. There's not enough specularity to the whites, and the cornea stands out too much; the inverted spec from the cornea should be something that you just barely register, a subtle clue to realism, not something that you notice.
The skin shader is awesome. Absolutely supurb stuff there. My only complaint is that you put SSS (or faked it) on the ear, but not on the nose, it would seem.
And finally, though I'm sure it was put in there as a last minute bit, the shirt collar doesn't look good. The shader is off, and you can see some jaggies around the rim.
Four stars. And if you get the rest straightened out, five.\
Oh, and give us a wire? :)
Cheers,

Nice job, dude. Real schweeet...
I guess you used Splutterfish's plugin for the HDRI? Or is it a full Brazil render?
If not, how did you get the subsurface scattering in his ears? I've been toying with MAX 5's translucency for months, trying to get a similar effect...

Thanks infuscare!
Hey TWooster, thanks for those crits!
Yeah, I noticed the eyes drieness now too. Ill fix it.
In the progress thread I got some opinions that the sss didnt work for the nose. So I ditched the sss from the nose, tho there can be still seen a little transluency in the farer nostril.
Yea, I agree, it was rushed, Ill give it a little bit more work.
Heres the wire

Raman, thats brazil. But transcluency can be faked very well, you should use the self-illumination map on the places you want to have transcluency.
Thanks Hyptosis :) I started when I was around 11, and now Im almost 13. So that's about 1 and a half, or 2 years.

youre off to a good start at that age, hehe, and I thought I was young
totally cool picture, the only crit I have is that his left eye should look more towards the right, it looks a little cross-eyed? Maybe the eyebrows to have more hairs in them, different shades too.
very impressive stuff indeed, the character totally freaks me out with the beard details

Great stuff, heh I'm 20 and I couldn't do something that good yet. Anyways I do have a crit. Its about the texture/bumpmap. It looks a little too smooth, like he doesnt have any pores.
