Okay, I rendered using Mental Ray with Final Gather. I canít seem to get rid of the circular blotches in the background as you can see on the picture, I thought that if I increased the filter (Final Gathering), it would make it look less blotchy. I donít know what can be creating those annoying unwanted spots. Can you guys give me some tips on how I can take away those nasty blotches?

If you increase the number of final gather rays or increase the final gather interpolation does that take care of them?

No that didn't take care of them  . So I decided to just use a surface shader instead of blinn for the backdrop. And this is how it turned out looking:

What are your raytracing settings at?

its FG radius size and interpolation.

make them both bigger. But... what i would do is do the BG in a separate pass not using FG.

a surface shader has no shading... so you will only get the color of the shader. its good for making RGB passes. or black holes.

Thanks, increasing the values of FG max and min radius and interpolation fixed the problem. :applause:
