Anyhow, all will be made clear next week at Siggraph when Maxon finally lets us in on the cool stuff they have been working on for the past several months.

Can't believe an article like that has been released. I mean many companies have let little leaks go, but this reveals a fair bit I'm sure many didn't want out. :/

Oh well, Can't wait to get out there and have some fun, make sure to stop by the busy maxon booth I'll be helping out this year :)

Also hate to say it (maybe this teaching studio max is digging in) but I"m curious to see this new 3D app discreet is releasing, I mean they have Gmax, Plasma, and Max what more do they need? Couldn't they just try to improve what they got? Better be damn good.

Bodypaint coukd use more improvements like more photoshop like filters, more Tools including clone tool, and something to get around annoying seams.

A new bodypaint would make sense, given the current bodypaint promotion - they are practically giving it away right now. Siggraph, oh siggraph...

yes anew bodypaint is what i have been expecting, for they said a tool for "all".
but i hope version 8.2 will be here too, with some bugfixes, integrated sla and so on...?

Kaiskai, i heard that discreet is releasing studiomax 6 with mental ray, and deep paint 3d integrated. like you said discreet already has everything what else could they be making. if its not max maybe some type of 2d animation software, or dvd editing maybe. anyhow, i've lost all loyalty to discreet. all their stuff is crash prone.:thumbsdow

I dont know about the rest of you guys,but I prefer unwrapping in BP3D and then painting it in PS.PS8 is soon to be released as well :)

It shouldn't be max 6 as they stat5ed it would be a whole new 3D program.

In case I missed something, they said this:

One last note-we are expecting a major announcement at the show from Discreet on the 3D front. So, stay tuned. All in all, an eventful show for Discreet.

Doesnt neccasarily say its a whole new app--just a major announcement. Could extrapolate a whole lot of possibilities from a staement like that.

Are we talking about the old bodypaint here or the most recent? Where is there a clone tool!?

In the tool bar theres a little icon which looks kind of like a normal brush and a smaller one above it,thats the clone tool

Yes if I was refering to the article, but I'm talking about Discreet themselves who have (if you check out max users discussions last little while) have said themselves a new 3D app. Granted this could just mean a standalone animation app, or renderer, or maybe they will change max's name because of all the big new add ons who knows, only a few days left to find out whats all going on with all the companies.

All I know is I'll be there to see it all take place for once.

in my mind this is the first time I can remember a leak from maxon. It may have been intentional, simply because they have never had a tendency of leaks before.
