This is getting on my nerves now.
OK, I bought a new wireless router the other week when my old one died. My desktop (Vista) is wired directly to the router and I have DSL.

Ever since I installed the new router I get this annoying issue that whenever I need to use IE, I get this window that pops up that is titled "Dial-up Connection" and basically is asking me how I want to connect to the internet. If I click Connect, I get the "Connect Broadband Connection" Window, which asks for my username and p/w. And even if I put in the right info, it still errors out.
What I don't get is that all this info should be stored on my wireless router - so why is IE asking for all this info all over again??

When I use Firefox (my usual browser), it connects normally 99% of the time, but on some rare occasions I might go to some random site and as a certain random picture is trying to download that same "dial-up Connection" window pops up. If I hit Cancel on it, usually the picture loads up fine anyways.

Certain applications that directly connect to the internet have the same problem. But the weird thing is that my laptop - which connects wirelessly - doesn't get this problem. It happens to run XP.

Anyone wanna venture a guess as to what the heck is going on? I'll readily admit that networking stuff is not my forte, so I have purposefully not dug too deep into my settings for fear of messing something up.

Bet youve got a dialler virus which gets triggered by ie. Its a virus which dials into the net via a premium rate number to get them money, get scanning!

Ya know, I was thinking about it being a virus, but I tend to keep my system very clean and always have an AV app running with a nightly update and scan, but I can run one right now just to be safe.

If this comes out clean, anyone got any other suggestions?

It all started with the install of the new wireless router, so I have to assume it's got something to do with some network/internet settings, I jsut don't know enough about that stuff.
