Hello,

Like i say in other thread i am i LW user considering using C4D to render some scenes using his radiosity features and other things. Today i continue trying things with demo version. Actually i am not considering modelling with C4D ... i have not enought time to learn modelling in other package, so i must integrate LW modeller in C4D workflow ....

Question is simple. Imagine i load a LW model in C4D, texture it, position or animate it ... all ok ... but later i must make big changes in original LW model geometry. How i can replace new model into C4D scene without left position, animation and materials of original object?. Is posible replace only geometry of a object?. Can C4D work with external referenced objects ... like LW Layout?.

If finally i make decission of using C4D in production, perhaps later i model inside C4D. But actually i think that LW modeller is simple the best for my poligonal modelling work ....... :hmm:

If anybody here is using LW modeler with C4D any advice is wellcome.

Thank you and regards,

Presently Cinema doesn't have file referencing--unfortunately. But I wonder if this might change when fbx import/export is released?

i believe paul everett had a plugin that created external file referencing. however as a default cinema doesn't have this, you can however "merge" two scenes together easily enough (just choose merge option this will retain object position from scene a, as it moves into scene b) and cinema doesn't delete textures used on an object just because you delete the object (so it's easy to put textures back on the object).

as for animation, you can always just keep your objects inside of nulls or animate clones of the object, then simply changeing the reference or object inside of the null is very easy.and it will retain position etc.

Hi Juan,

I have successfully imported entire Animation Sceens done in Lightwave into Cinema 4D 8.1 very successfully.

It even imports the Camera Path... You will need some minor adjustments in objects that had evelope values. Of course, this is only true if you will render animation. Otherwise, Its great just the way it import it in.

So far, I have liked very much the speed of rendering with Cinema 4D versus Lightwave. Cinema 4D is a lot faster. Also, if I use the computer that is rendering, with Cinema 4D I have no problems, but if I use Lightwave, it slows my system to a stall.

On my scene, rendering one frame, in Lightwave it takes about 5 minutes, once imported into Cinema 4D, it takes about 1 1/2 minute to render the same frame.
