Hi,

I'm new to Maya, and I'm looking for a way to display my model on a ground plane, without the groundplane being visible; I want it to receive shadows, but I don't want it to differ from my background colour.

I know the material that you can apply to a ground plane to achieve this is called a 'Matte/Shadow' in 3D StudioMax, but I have no clue how to do this in Maya.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Cheers!!

I believe that the maya equivalent that you're looking for is the background shader. Right click and assign new material.... background shader. On a side note I think this question has been asked numerous times. A quick search of the forums would have probably given you an answer.
