View Full Version : hide/unhide + UV export
I have two new problems,
1. How can i hide some polygons/verticles of my object?
2. How can i make this picture?

Please tell me how can i import my UV map into Photoshop?

1) Select Everything. In the viewports menus go to Show->Isolate Select->View Selected. Then Select the faces you wish to hide and choose Show->Isolate Select->Remove Selected Objects.
You can save yourself a few clicks by just selectinging the faces you want to see, and choosing View Selected.
To go back to viewing everything choose View Selected with nothing selected.
2) In the UV Texture Editor window go to Polygons->UV Snapshot...

i had car and i was modeling back part i didnt have hided front part - so when i was finish with back part i found front part broken (i select vericles on back but on fron part to and move/extride scale them) :-(
but if im in subds than i can see only wireframe!
i need to see front part of my object shaded and back part i need to hide

If your working in polygon proxy mode it doesn't appear to work as one would expect.
I don't know where to go from here.

I went back and played a bit more... You can create an instance of the car and use polygon proxy mode on the original, select the front faces of the mesh and the instance, then use view selected. This will allow you to see the car shaded while you work on the mesh.
It doesn't allow you to isolate faces on the instance while the original is in polygon proxy mode, but it does give shaded feedback of what you are doing with the mesh.

This is a trick the we used when I was still demoing softimage|3D.
Set your camera frustum in such so when you use the camera only part that in certain distance will be shown.
In other word if your near and far cliping plane is set at certain distance, only object in that range will be shown in viewport. If object or subobjects is not shown in viewport, it can't be selected.
