I read the same thing in an other post!!!

I explain to you the process!!!

You save an "*.ma" file in your Maya 4.5
After you save your scene in a "*.ma" with your Maya 5.0!!!

Ok after you edit the Maya 4.5 "*.ma" file with notepad and copy the first 10 line of the file!!!

After you edit the Maya 5 "*.ma" file and you paste the 10 first line of the Maya 4.5 file in your Maya5 "*.ma" file!!!

Ok!!

or you can just change the 4.5 by 5 in the Maya 5 "*.ma" file and delete the mental ray line!!!

Why are you going back to maya 4.5.Im intrested to know because a lot of people seem to be doing this.

on highend3d there is a very smart person who wrote a plugin for maya that will do all of this automatically. The plugin is called rmMaExport. Search for it in the maya plugins section and you won't be dissappointed.
