I bought this one a week ago. I've read some other programming MEL books, but this one currently gets the credit, for really turning the light on for me. I was able to understand scripts before, but after reading this book, I find myself writing quick ones.
I highly reccomend it!

i am trying to find a table of contents to compare to the topics Kevin covered in his Gnomon DVD's.

I recently just picked this up as well. In the book he explains a little bit more as far as theory and good coding practices, but its pretty much the MEL DVD in print. Although in the book you do have some other chapters that the co-author wrote. They have some good information in them, and he walks you through creating one of his larger scripts. However if you are thinking that this book and the MEL DVD differ. I would say no. I have both, and while sometimes its easier to see the script in print, it's very similar to the DVD. They should have included it as a companion to the DVD. All in all its a good book. It compliments the DVD very well, and is fairly inexpensive.
