Hey guys,
So i painted two canvas, (only the background), and took a picture. Brought them in to photoshop and placed my monkey drawing on top of both using a different color scheme. Im having trouble deciding which one to paint so I wanted an opinion on which one u guys like better. Any other opinions are welcome too, Thanks :)http://7splat.com/wip/monkey.jpg

Hahaha! Great idea. I think the red is much better. I'd love to see more of this.

That is absolutely hilarious. XD I personally favor the blue because I think the monkey's coloring looks better in blue/grey, like a gorilla, plus the red seems a little too flashy. The dynamic of the background and the energy level of the picture make the red unnecessary and a bit like overkill, imho.

I like the red. Goes better with what you're trying to portray.

I vote for the blue. I find the red more stereotypically dramatic; the blue, on the other hand, has a much more smooth, laid back 60's James Bond feel too it. As well, your monkey looks a lot like John Lee Hooker and that man was just coolness incarnate.

Cheers

I think it depends on what feeling you want to convey most. The red looks a bit over the top, predictable (to be expected) colors, action, loud, forced. The blue looks more laid bad, original, cool, fun, character oriented more than action oriented.

Whatever feelings you want to show most is the one you should pick.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. So i got a lot of really good feedback and it was a difficult choice but i decided to go with red. I started trying to trace my drawing on the blue canvas but it was really dark and hard to see. And even tho blue was the original color choice, the red one was i thought, going to be easier to paint. Seeing as it was officially my first canvas painting i took the easier route. Hope i wont disappoint! lol. I still want to paint the blue one but maybe a different pose or something. right now i'm having trouble mixing the paint to get a good hi light color. Adding white makes it too pink and stand out too much. but ill keep messing with it and update it. Thanks again for the feed back and heres the wip.http://www.7splat.com/wip/monkey_02.jpg
