Here's my latest attempt to integrate CG elements with live-action footage. My biggest challenge in this project was to place CG footprints in the snow. I did allot of fancy simulation tests before I decided to go with a good old fashion vertex animation. Everything is rendered in 1080p.

The VFX shot: winterKangos (http://www.ericthelander.com/data/animations/winterKangos_h264_960x540.mov) 9 MB

A short breakdown of the shot: winterKangos_breakdown (http://www.ericthelander.com/data/animations/winterKangos_breakdown.mov) 600 KB

Awesome! So cute :D Your matchmoving and animation were both great, but the lighting/compositing could use some work. Cool project!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you found them to be cute :), my goal was the mimic the behavior of young animals playing. Any pointers on what I should improve on when it comes to light and compositing?

Thanks for watching

Well, I'm no compositing pro, for sure, but I think it could use a darker shadow by where their feet are. The bodies look very washed out, but maybe that's the shader... they may need more contrast. Then again the video is done at an interesting time of the day so you did a really good job. I loved your reel too, btw :applause:
