No more feedback? C'mon, this is one of the biggest 3d forum on the net! I'd like to have some more feedback... even if I use opensource software. ;)

it's looking good, the only problems I have with it are the textures on the inside of the mouth and the fact that the last pic on page 2 doesn't show up and page 3 and on don't load, otherwise great work!

Thanks for feedback.:)
Yes, the texture inside the mouth are still in progress.
The last image on page2 and the page 3 aren't made yet, so they are not there...

Looking very impressive already. Just the UV mapping layout seems quite inefficient. But the end result is what counts!

Hi Skyraider3D, thanks for your comment. I've seen some of your works and I find them very good (as the most of the works I usually see here on CGTalk).:)
Just curios: why does the uv mapping layout seems quite inefficient? I guess you refer to the waste of unused space...

Thanks Env! :)
I guess you refer to the waste of unused space...
Yes, indeed. There is a lot of unused space. Even if you're using a massive texture page, it would still be a shame not to use this space. I find Photoshop usually doesn't like textures any bigger than 2048x2048 or similar. Neither does my harddisk, as these texture pages can get well over 100 megs...
So the more efficient the UV mapping is, the bigger your texture appears on the model (relatively speaking), so you can keep the whole texture page to a workable size.

Last Friday I visited the Natural History Museum in London, and it was quite inspiring to see the skeletons of these huge predators. Hard to imagine they actually lived at some point. Good thing for humans they're well extinct! I wouldn't have one walking down my neighbourhood! :D
Its great to see them come to life again in 3D though. And you're doing an excellent job!

You are right, of course. But the problem is that this is the first time I used UVMapper to prepare the textures for a model, and seems I could not get out of a fixed image ratio... so I had to try to locate the single part uv templates the best I could, but could not avoid the waste of space.
For the textures I used The Gimp, that act perfectly with images bigger than 6k (this is known issue about PS vs. Gimp; this last seems to work better with very big images). Anyway, I used a trick: only the bumpmap is 6k, but in greyscale mode so the file size is not so big. The RGB colormap has been scaled to 3k.
Its great to see them come to life again in 3D though. And you're doing an excellent job!
Thanks! Currently I'm working on the environment, that is really a great task. Lots of matte painted backgrounds and tree models...:)
