View Full Version : Creating believable edges
Philtastic 06-22-2009, 10:38 PM Hey i'm relatively new to texturing 3d objects and i really have a hard time making things look right, especially when it comes to edges and creases. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with tricks or techniques that would make an edge look real on something like the corners of a metalic case or like, creases in furnature. Anything would be great thanks!

Micro bevels instead of mathematically perfect sharp edges, for one thing.
edit: this is the Photoshop forum, so I'm not sure what you are looking for.

Hmm well i was aiming more at on a UV texture map for a 3d object. Like how to make a used edge on a UV map as to make it appear like the edge is used or worn. any kind of tricks or good techniques in photoshop that let me make those kinds of edges. i hope that clarifies what I'm looking for :o
